Railing hardware laid out along a dark stone ledge: a glass clamp, a stainless spigot, a matte black spigot, a shower hinge and the cut end of a round top rail

The finishing
touches matter.

Handrails, clamps, handles, and profiles are small elements with a strong effect on the whole space.

Follow the room

Consider the relationship to doors, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and other metalwork. Ask for samples rather than judging a finish only on a screen.

Consider exposure

An interior finish and an exposed coastal installation face different conditions. Within a few miles of the ocean, type 316 stainless — usually called marine grade — resists salt far better than the more common type 304, which is why it is the usual specification for exposed hardware here. Confirm the grade, the finish, and the care guidance for the exact hardware, not just the look of it.

Plan the top edge

A top rail caps the glass and ties the panels together. A wall-mounted graspable handrail is a separate element with a separate job, and on a stair a project can need both. Material, profile and finish are chosen alongside the glass, not after it — and leaving the rail off entirely changes what the glass has to be.

Which stainless grade, and why it matters here

Two grades cover almost all railing hardware, they look identical in a photograph, and one of them rusts within sight of the ocean. Worth knowing before you approve a quote.

Which system suits a project depends on the surface it fixes to and how the space is used. Send photographs or a plan and we will go through the options against your own site rather than in general.
